Active vs Passive Security
Passive security records events. Active security helps stop them earlier.
Active security
Security should do more than record what happened.
Traditional security systems are essential for detection, verification and evidence. Cameras, radar, analytics and alarms help security teams understand what is happening — but in many installations, the physical response still depends on an operator or guard taking action.
Active security adds another layer. By integrating IntelliLight with existing detection and surveillance systems, a detected and verified threat can trigger a controlled physical response at the perimeter. This helps security teams move from simply observing an event to actively influencing it while it is still developing.
Passive Security
Detect. Observe. Record. Alert.
Passive security provides visibility and situational awareness. Cameras, radar, analytics and access-control systems identify suspicious activity and notify security personnel, but normally depend on human intervention before anything changes at the scene.
Passive security is critical for awareness and evidence — but the system primarily observes the threat rather than interacting with it.
Active Security
Detect. Verify. Respond.
Active security builds on the existing security infrastructure by adding a controlled response capability. IntelliLight can receive information from cameras, radar, analytics and other sensors. Once a target has been detected and verified, the system can evaluate distance, location and configured zone rules before activating a controlled illumination response.
The objective is not simply to document an intrusion. It is to change the situation while it is happening — making the target aware that they have been detected, increasing deterrence and giving security teams additional time to respond.
From observation to intervention
Passive security tells you something is happening. Active security gives the security system the ability to respond.
IntelliLight does not replace cameras, radar, analytics or the VMS. It adds an active security layer to the systems already protecting the site.
